Oct. 24, 2009 Fall fun weekend (Premier Event!)
1. 10:00am - Pumpkin Carving Contest @ Pavilion
Start getting your chilling creative juices flowing for the pumpkin-carving contest. Pumpkins, newspapers, knifes, paint, carving kits will be provided by Lake Monroe Village, although we highly suggest you bring your own unique supplies to gain the edge on the carving contest. All ages are invited to participate with us at the pavilion at 10:00. The winner will be announced at the Chili Cook Off.
2. 4:00pm - Campsite Halloween Decoration Contest
Last year the creepy creativity in decorating your own campsite was so amazing that the judge found it very difficult to decide on the winner. This year should prove to be very interesting, now that we know what kind of terrifying decorations to expect!! You may start decorating your site anytime you want, the earlier the better to establish the Halloween frame of mind. The winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd) will be announced at the ghost walk.
3. 6:00pm - Chili Cook Off Contest
Do you have a recipe for the best chili? Well now is the time to prove it! Bring all your fixings up to the pavilion promptly at 6:00. There will be a chili cook off signup sheet at the front office. We will have four categories you can signup for: Traditional no beans chili con carne, Hottest, Most unique, Vegetarian. We will have a judge for each category.
Lake Monroe Village will provide salad & dressing, bread, orange drink, bowls, utensils and napkins. The winners will be announced right after we finish filling our bellies. But don't leave yet.
4. Best Halloween Costume Contest - ( During the Chili Cook Off )
Adults and children wear your Halloween costumes to the chili cook off for a chance to win a prize. The more participants we have the more festive the Halloween ambiance. We will have two categories, grown up adult gnomes and the young little trolls. Winners will be announced after chili cook off.
5. 7:30 to 9:00 Trick-or-treat at the Campsites
Each year it has been so much fun to see the campground alive with young people as they walk from campsite to campsite Trick-or-Treating and creating memories. Be sure to bring plenty of candy because this is what it is all about!
6. 9:00 Ghost Walk
Have you been hearing haunting sounds around your campfires at night? Rumor has it that Mrs. Monroe has been spotted on Trail 1 talking to a Ghost. If you are up for an adventure, meet Ranger Gregg at the Pavilion for a Ghost Walk at 9:00 PM and bring only a steady set of nerves, a sense of excitement and a flashlight because we have added some new thrills.
The Ghost walk is for all ages. Lets have fun.
